Presidents Message
Dear 2023/2024 LAGSL Community,
My name is Steven Diotalevi, and I am pleased to serve as your President for the 2023-2024 season. This is my family’s 7th year in the league, my 4th year on the board, and it marks LAGSL’s 50th Anniversary. My daughter Mila started in 6U and is now in 12U. My younger daughter Elena also started in 6U and is now in 8U. This league has provided some incredible moments we have experienced as a family and taught my girls about hard work, teamwork, and meeting lifelong friends. LAGSL holds a special place in my heart, and rest assured that we will continue to provide a recreational league that supports your daughter in learning and continuing to play softball. Our successes from our past; Fall, Spring, Select, and All-Star programs led to our largest spring season enrollment ever last spring. I plan to build upon that enrollment for all age divisions; my main goal as President is to offer a competitive league for your daughters to grow from 6U through 12U.
The incoming board has been working hard to build upon the success in 2022/2023. We will continue to focus on player and coach/manager development. We have many returning board members, including some who have stayed on even though their daughters have aged out from the league; we are incredibly thankful for their contributions and hard work. Additionally, our board has new members who have proven to be remarkable advocates for our girls. Opening Day Spring 2024 will mark LAGSL 50th Anniversary and is sure to be the best in league history and provide a foundation to build upon for seasons to come.
As this is an all-volunteer league, we need an engaged board and active parent/family volunteers who can be managers, coaches and fill other critical volunteer roles. Board meetings are held monthly, and any parent or volunteer is welcome to join the meeting. Some things the board will be working on this coming season are a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) update with RCSD and RPN, updates to the League By-Laws, league rules, and website along with some other changes/bringing back old traditions. Feel free to contact me at: president@lagsl.org with any questions.
In the meantime, thank you for your continued support, and I hope your girls learn new skills, gain new friendships, and, above all else, have fun! We look forward to what is in store this season and can’t wait to see you all on the field.
Los Al, YOU KNOW!
